Second Stage Theater Announces DOGFIGHT Casting for MUSICAL MONDAYS

March 15, 2019 - Second Stage Theater (Carole Rothman, President and Artistic Director; Casey Reitz, Executive Director) has announced ANTONIO CIPRIANO, MICAELA DIAMOND, CJ ELDRED, ALAN H. GREEN, DEREK KLENA, SKY LAKOTA-LYNCH, PEARL SUN, HENU JOSEPHINE TARRANT, RYAN VASQUEZ, NATALIE WALKER and DANIEL YEARWOOD will perform Peter Duchan, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul's DOGFIGHT as a part of the special concert series, MUSICAL MONDAYS, in celebration of the acclaimed company's 40th anniversary. Klena will reprise the role of "Eddie Birdlace," which he originated in the production. GINA RATTAN directs the sold-out performance on Monday, March 18th, featuring musical direction by BRYAN PERRI.

A series of one-night only concerts of musicals produced by Second Stage Theater, MUSICAL MONDAYS takes place every Monday night through the month of March. The series kicked off on March 4th with Jason Robert Brown's THE LAST FIVE YEARS and followed on March 11th with SATURDAY NIGHT by Julius J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein, and Stephen Sondheim. MUSICAL MONDAYS will conclude on March 25th with Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's NEXT TO NORMAL.

All concerts will play at 7pm at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theater (305 W 43rd Street).


ANTONIO CIPRIANO (Stevens) starred in the world premiere of Jagged Little Pill at the American Repertory Theater as Phoenix/Ensemble, which is scheduled to premiere on Broadway in fall 2019. Regional theatre credits include Carmina Burana and I Pagliacci with the Michigan Opera Theatre. He won the 2017 Sutton Foster Ovation Award for Best High School Theater Actor and was a finalist in the 2017 NHSMTA Jimmy Awards. He's performed in multiple concerts at Feinstein's 54Below, including a solo show in 2018. His TV credits include "God Friended Me" on CBS.

MICAELA DIAMOND (Rose) is currently making her Broadway debut as Babe - the youngest Cher - in The Cher Show. She made her television debut in NBC's "Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert," appearing in the ensemble and understudying Sara Bareilles. Favorite roles include Louise in Gypsy and Sally Bowles in Cabaret. She is honored to be a small part of the 2nd Stage beauty.

CJ ELDRED's (Gibbs) TV/Film credits include The Tap (Bear). Off-Broadway: Desperate Measures (Johny Blood and Sherif Green), Loveless Texas (Randy), Claudio Quest (Claudio). National tours: The Book of Mormon (Elder Price). Regional: Sex With Strangers (Ethan), South Pacific (Lt. Cable), Billy Elliot (Tony).

ALAN H. GREEN (Lounge Singer). Broadway/NY: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, School of Rock, Sister Act, Play On, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Happiness (Lincoln Center). 1st National Tours: Spelling Bee, Swing, Smokey Joe's Cafe. International: Miss Saigon (Germany). Some Regional: Broadway Bounty Hunter, The Royal Family (Barrington Stage); Freaky Friday (Signature); First You Dream (Kennedy Center). DEREK KLENA (Birdlace) originated the role of Eddie Birdlace in Second Stage's 2012 production of Dogfight and was most recently seen in the Broadway-bound production of Jagged Little Pill at A.R.T in Cambridge, MA. Broadway: Anastasia (Dmitry, OBC), The Bridges of Madison County (OBC), Wicked (Fiyero, 10th anniversary company). Off-Broadway: Dogfight (Second Stage), Carrie (MCC). HENU JOSEPHINE TARRANT (Ruth Two Bears/Chippy). A graduate of the American Musical & Dramatic Academy's Integrated Musical Theater Program, her most recent stage credits include: Ajijaak on Turtle Island at The New Victory Theatre (Ibex Puppetry), Material Witness Northwest Coast Tour '18 (Spiderwoman Theater), Don't Feed the Indians: A Divine Comedy Pageant at La MaMa etc. (Safe Harbors Indigenous Collective), Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival (Silvercloud Singers). Her most recent film credits include: theGIRLMOB's Women's History Month Interview series. She was also a feature on the soundtrack of Dawnland (comp. Jennifer Kriesberg).

RYAN VASQUEZ (Boland). Broadway: Hamilton (Standby for Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison), Waitress (Original Broadway Cast), Wicked. Tour: Hamilton (1st National, Original Cast). TV/Film: "The Code" (CBS), "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (HBO), "The Good Fight" (CBS). Michigan Graduate.

NATALIE WALKER (Marcy) is a performer and writer who can be found nightly lurking in and around the corners of MCC Theater as an understudy in Alice by Heart. Otherwise onstage frequently at 54 Below, Joe's Pub, Ars Nova, and Upright Citizens Brigade; onscreen less frequently in TBS' "Search Party" and the upcoming season of Netflix's "BoJack Horseman"; online in perpetuity writing articles for Vulture and tweets for herself alone (@nwalks). If you are still wondering who she is, she agrees.
DANIEL YEARWOOD (Fector) appeared on Broadway in Once on this Island. Off-Broadway: Grand Hotel. Regional: My Very Own British Invasion, In The Heights.

GINA RATTAN (Director). Broadway credits include: Angels in America, Matilda The Musical, Soul Doctor, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, Billy Elliot. Live TV musicals: Peter Pan, The Sound of Music (Live on NBC). Regional credits include: ART, Old Globe, Guthrie Theater, Lone Tree Arts Center, Theater Raleigh, Theater Workshop of Nantucket. Currently, the director of Camp American Girl and R&H's Cinderella nat'l tour & new musicals in development.

BRYAN PERRI (Music Director) is currently music director for Second Stage's Superhero. At Second Stage, he was also the music director for the original productions of Dogfight and Vanities. Broadway: Wicked, Chaplin, and the first national tour of Next to Normal. Other recent credits as music director include Jagged Little Pill (ART) due on Broadway this fall, Freaky Friday (Signature Theater) and Born to Dance (Princess Cruises). He is also the resident music supervisor of ACT of Connecticut-- a new equity regional theater located In Ridgefield, CT, that he recently opened with his husband Daniel C Levine.


Second Stage Theater's 40th Anniversary Season kicked off last summer with the Broadway premiere of Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN, directed by Anna D. Shapiro. The season continued with the World Premiere of DAYS OF RAGE, a new play by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson (Dear Evan Hansen) and directed by Trip Cullman who staged the company's recent Tony-nominated hit production of Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero.

The world premiere musical SUPERHERO, is currently running at the Tony Kiser Theater after officially opening on February 28, 2019. Directed by Jason Moore, SUPERHERO features a book by John Logan and music and lyrics by Tom Kitt.

The season will also feature Christopher Shinn's Pulitzer Prize finalist, DYING CITY, in a new production from acclaimed director Lila Neugebauer (The Wolves), who returns to Second Stage after directing Tracy Letts' Mary Page Marlowe last summer. The New York Premiere of Bess Wohl's play, MAKE BELIEVE, directed by Michael Greif, will conclude the season in summer 2019.
