|I don't think anyone'll ever top Neil Patrick Harris' ''Bigger'' Tony opening number in 2013|

|His Tony-hosting performance that year won him the Emmy, and, to quote his ''How I Met Your Mother,'' it's ''legendary.''
I've watched it countless times, and I still can't figure out how he pulled it off (especially reappearing in the aisles).
(For the record, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tom Kitt won an Emmy for writing that spectacular specialty number.)
Corden's Tony opening tonight also used lotsa Broadway performers, but didn't have the wit of NPH's ''Bigger'' tour de force.
I also thought Corden's audience shtick was lame: pitting Broadway celebs against one another or practicing their ''loser'' faces.
Ditto his parody of ''Michael in the Bathroom'' from ''Be More Chill.'' I bet many at Radio City and lotsa home viewers were puzzled.
It's so ''inside.'' You'd have to know ''Be More Chill'' to ''get'' it, and to devote so much time to a musical with only 1 Tony nomination?
I wish they could've cut Corden's audience shtick or ''James in the Bathroom,'' and presented Best Book on-air instead.
I'm thrilled the Tonys spotlighted the playwrights, but why don't librettists get any respect, especially when the Tonys focus on musicals?
