I actually thought this season was exceptional. The number of new plays, while not all great, was wonderful. Not to mention some excellent revivals such as The Boys in the Band, The Waverly Gallery, and Torch Song.

Hadestown was one of the best things I've ever seen. Moving story, sublime performances, and an outstanding score. Tootsie was musical comedy bliss for me. I found Beetlejuice and The Cher Show to be a lot of fun. And I found Kelli O'Hara to prove her stardom in Kiss me Kate.

I usually see 20 - 25 shows in NYC (on and off Broadway) in a year and it's rare I find anything to be truly awful. Maybe I'm just a pollyanna! But in my opinion, this was a sensational season!
