Love this thread.
I would second many of the ones listed by others, but a few others that would qualify:
-- Cynthia Erivo in THE COLOR PURPLE (I thought she'd be listed by many others....I'M HERE wrecked me)
-- Ben Platt in DEAR EVAN HANSEN (mentioned by many others, but saw him the night after I saw Erivo, so it was a one-two punch)
-- Marin Mazzie in RAGTIME
-- Michael C Hall in CABARET (he replaced Cumming and was extraordinary)
-- Noah Galvin, replacing Platt and managing to sear my soul again in a different way than Platt did
-- Ken Jennings as Tobias in SWEENEY TODD
-- Gedde Watanabe in PACIFIC OVERTURES
and, honestly, I cannot get Mary Testa's Aunt Eller out of my head. |
