Zeffirelli brought that "Romeo and Juliet" to New York in 1962 but without Dame Judi (Joanna Dunham was Juliet and John Stride was Romeo). He had a big flop with a revival of "The Lady of the Camellias" with Susan Strasberg. There were also two short runs of Italian plays by Eduardo di Filippo - "Filumena" with Joan Plowright and Frank Finlay and "Saturday, Sunday, Monday" with an American cast. Nothing seemed to run longer than a month.
Meanwhile at the Metropolitan Opera, his productions of "La Bohème" and "Turandot" sell out the theater for over 35 years.
