My son, a Criterion/film aficionado, has mentioned this to me several times. (when rummaging through our cast albums). He wonders if book is actually based on "true events" or if "based on" simply means, as is often the case, a classic story line has been appropriated. He is coming over for father's day. I shall inquire.
