| I saw the TV version when it aired in 1976 as part of "Hollywood Television Theatre," and I've never forgotten it. A surprising amount of the score is still lodged in my head, despite the lack of a cast album -- which is more than I can say for any number of shows I actually saw on Broadway. The TV production was spare, and probably pretty close to the Portfolio production, but it worked very well. It was the first time I had ever heard of the wonderful Dick Latessa, whom I was thrilled to see in "Hairspray" on Broadway many years later. |
