| This strategy has been tried and it has failed. Choreographers can supply a video to prove copyright infringement. When stage directors have done the same, it has been rejected by the courts. It makes no sense. There is no reason to differentiate staging from choreography, but that is how courts currently see it. Thus, if a musical productions copies the choreography and design, they can be successfully sued. But if that same production copies the staging of the book scenes, the director would not prevail in court. It really makes no sense. |
