| inherent is obviously wrong, required depends on the script and the author. Playwrights, famously, have required the execution of stage directions down to the shade of a costume or the position of a door or window (among many other specifications). But a director could not possibly claim to own the staircase idea; it's right in the script. (A street level alternative, maybe.) |
