There was a problem with the sound on the LP, with the first track or two, as I recall it. There was what I can only describe as a watery quality to it, perhaps not noticeable without headphones.
Yes, I'm not surprised that Philemon was even more difficult to find outside New York than in New York. A close friend with whom I later shared an apartment for some years had the LP, and I have his copy now. I imagine I would have seen it myself at Doubleday's and the Drama Book Shop and perhaps a few other stores. In fact, it may have been carried by the store in which I worked myself, on and off, from the age of 18 through the age of 23. That was The Record Hunter, where I worked in the classical department and became the show-music expert when they realized that I had more knowledge in that area than anyone else there. |
