I absolutely agree with you that the comment was disruptive and wrong.

But, as a white (and Jewish) pianist who does spend his Sunday mornings playing for a Black Catholic parish (lol), I also have to (gently) suggest that your analogy isn't necessarily a good parallel. Though our parish is certainly accepting of anyone who would like to be part of the service, there's also an inherent assumption that the majority of a black catholic congregation will be black (and catholic). There is no such obvious expectation for the racial makeup of the Broadway Bares audience.

But yes, there are people who want to disrupt things for the sake of disrupting things, even if deep down their intention is a sound one. Wishing that the BB audience was more diverse is understood. Expressing it the way this guy did, drunk or not, was not right. But it could very well be that he did it knowing full well that it wasn't appropriate. I wish he would have understood that doing it in that manner doesn't in any way help his cause. It only calls attention to the disruption, not the issue at hand.
