I sat on the aisle recently at ...Mockingbird. The family next to me, two middle aged adults and their two grown children, shared a large Costco bag of individually wrapped Skittles servings--the kind you would give away at Halloween. So, large rustle with big bag, then the tearing of each individual little bag at various times through the evening. I asked them to stop several times. They did not.
The second the play was over, they wanted past me to leave before the curtain call had even begun. I was very moved by the production and still lost in the moment, so I failed to notice them for a while. Then intentionally failed to notice them as I kept clapping. The daughter next to me turned and said "He won't move!". I kept clapping. It was a short curtain call--no particular grandstanding. Maybe a minute or two. Then I sighed and picked up my bag and left as they raced past me grumbling. |
