A play about government, mercy, vengeance and America’s original sin. Three nights of collaborative performances by gifted artists who work together as couples, sybillines, and friends. A beautifully diverse program of dance, poetry, theater, art, and live-music. Oxana Chi and Layla Zami are a German-French couple collaborating since 2010 in the fields of performing arts, visual arts, higher education and event curation. The duo tours internationally, and is much appreciated in Berlin, Germany and in New York City for their inspiring creativity and uplifting energy. The final seance is in 1910, and beyond. Supported by the Santa Fe Community Foundation as part of their storytelling project, the work premiered in New Mexico in 2000. It sheds light on the often confusing fluidity of sexuality, and how we must show grace and kindness when exploring our ever changing feelings. While celebrating the sexuality of the main character, it shines a light on the perceptions of relationships, and illuminates similarities rather than differences, doing so with humor, passion, overt sexual expression . . . and truth. The relationship between two girls is examined at different points in their lives, showing the consequences of choice. Wednesday 7/17 8:30 pm THE KNIFE CUTS BOTH WAYS created and performed by Cecilia Gentili, directed by Gene Fischer The Knife Cuts Both Ways is a hilarious and raunchy autobiographical take on one trans woman’s queer multicultural experience. Thursday 7/18 8 pm; Saturday 7/20 8 pm; Sunday 7/21 4 pm HERE TO RECRUIT YOU — A MUSICAL written and directed by Michael Boyd The little-known theatrical career of gay political icon Harvey Milk, from a bohemian life in New York City theatre in the 60s, to a celebrated political life cut short by an assassin’s bullet. The All Out Arts special feature for the Stonewall-50 Celebration. Sunday 7/21 2 pm (Reception begins at 1:30 pm) NIGHT VISIONS by Johnny B. Dunn A troubled gay teen spending a summer at his uncle’s home in rural Louisiana is seduced and terrorized by a spirit in agony. Love, and a voodoo priestess, are his only hope. July 25 - July 26 Elizabeth Koke’s Untitled Solo Project Part of The Wild Project’s Indie the Wild program Schedule: Thursday & Friday at 8pm Tickets: $15 Elizabeth Koke is a writer, performer, and organizer from New York City. She is interested in grief, intimacy, alienation, and the formation of desire. She has participated in performances and readings at Dixon Place, the Museum of Art and Design, the Brooklyn Museum, Joe’s Pub, BRIC. She is most often behind the scenes coordinating parties, public programs, and direct actions alike. She has a BA from Smith College and an MA in Performance Studies from NYU. August 8 – August 18 SHEnanigans written and performed by Helena D. Lewis, directed by Rome Neal Schedule: Thursday – Saturday at 7pm; Sunday at 3pm Tickets: $20 After her mother’s unexpected death, a devoted daughter struggles to adjust to her newfound matriarchal duties. An intimate, dramatic, and humorous look at love and life from a “menopause baby,” who embraces her inherent dysfunction to care for her eccentric 82-year-old father and Smokey, the affable family dog. All performances are at The Wild Project (195 E. 3rd Street, between Avenues A & B). Tickets can be purchased online at www.thewildproject.org. The Box Office opens one hour prior to curtain.
