| My cousins are in town and the teenager is such a Broadway fan that she is only applying to colleges in the NYC area. She asked me about the 7:30 curtain time for The Ferryman last night, and why it didn't start at 7. I said that people had to eat dinner after work and get to the theater so that not everyone likes a 7:00 PM curtain. But what we wondered is, do Broadway houses have to pay more for shows that come down after 11:00? (With a 7:30 start, it comes down at 10:45, and if it started at 8, it would end at 11:15). What about the kids in the cast, do their rules prohibit them ending later (that's the case in the UK I believe). Anyway, we're interested in all this behind the scenes detail on union rules, producers thinking etc so many thanks in advance for any light you can shed. Also, they loved the play, and since I hadn't seen since London, I was grateful this cast still gets the job done. | |
