| I liked the show very much, and I laughed A LOT. I found it such a treat to see those four veterans in the big parts, and the show should have won for best book of a musical. But as much as I enjoyed it, it wasn't as strong as either Hairspray or The Drowsy Chaperone, the two shows it reminded me most of. I wish it could have made the townspeople a little richer and more interesting. But were I a Tony voter I would have picked it for Best Musical this year. | |

| Wondering if you noticed in the middle of this “very funny, insightful, and entertaining” musical one of the main characters, Barry, calls teenage girls preparing for the Prom whores sticking there finger down their throat? It made me cringe as I sat surrounded by teenagers and their parents. | |

| ...let's make sure all shows produced on Broadway are now scrubbed squeaky clean of any dark humor or anything offensive. Get rid of that Book of Mormon musical right now with its trivialization of the AIDS epidemic in Africa. How dare we be subjected to such scandalous humor. | |

| I also find much of the humor in "Book of Mormon" scatogical and sacrilegious. On the other hand, the show is very well crafted. The opening number is brilliant. "Salt Lake City" is both comic and a ballad that brings the tempo of the show down so it can build again, "I Believe" is superbly structured. Now I don't think "I've got maggots in my scrotum" was so smart that it should be repeated three times, but all in all, "Mormon" is far better made than "The Prom." | |

| I’m not saying all shows should be “scrubbed squeaky clean”, but hey should taken their targeted audience into account. the Book of Mormon was not targeted to a teenage audience and was intended to be offensive. However The Prom was clearly targeted to an impressionable teenage audience and the parents who would bring them. The writers and producers have a responsibility to present appropriate material to the demographic they are targeting. I’m sure the parents in the audience didn’t expect the language used in this production. | |
