| I think Millie is also being done because the authors have realized that they need to address the portions of the story that today's audiences find questionable, so that the show will continue to be licensed, and presumably have a full revival at some point. I don't think it's a coincidence that one of the authors of Millie is heavily in involved with the Encores program. I'm not suggesting there is any problem with this, merely pointing out why Millie might have ended up in the Encores orbit. Personally I have loved Ashley Park in everything and can't wait to see her as Millie. And am looking forward to seeing how they address the problematic Asian stereotypes in the piece. |
