I am thinking about getting a subscription for this season.

What is the commute like from the UWS?

What is the overall quality of their productions?

Are there decent restaurants nearby?

Thank you.

Overall quality is excellent and adventurous, both in new works and its choice of revivals. The company always had an adventurous streak in hiring new directors but whoever is making the decision in their casting is putting the company on the map. Excellent actors want to work there.

If you transfer to the N/R it will take you to the Barclay Center stop and the theater is a couple of blocks away. Barclay's Center stop can be a challenge, however, for people with mobility issues. A major design flaw in a major culture/entertainment hub.

Many good restaurants nearby and even better ones with a wide price range in the Ft. Greene area which is a bit of walk from the theater but lovely and very fun, especially in the summer.

The theater's only downside is that the new space has a cramped lobby but in the summer it has a large plaza where one can hang out before the performances.

The other must-visit in the area is The Center for Fiction, next door.

It's near so many trains so the commute is easy, especially if you keep abreast of weekend service changes.

More importantly, lots of great restaurants nearby. The original Juniors and No. 7 are my favorites, but lots of options.

Getting there is pretty straightforward. See the information at the link below. Getting back will depend on what's going on with the trains.

I've enjoyed the productions I've seen. Note that the viewing angles from upper level seats can be pretty severe.

The "LOCAL PERKS" link on the page below will give you some information about nearby food (and there's food in the theater), but I generally don't eat there.

Perhaps others can comment on the seating and restaurants.
