Gwen Verdon "a second-tier hoofer"? She is universally regarded as one of the four or five greatest dancers in the musical's
history.

The problem here is that the piece is driven by politics rather than by arts criticism. This writer needs to discredit the
#MeToo movement, so everything he says is led by a narrative. You could argue that the narrative itself is right or
wrong, but it doesn't apply to Verdon, especially given the extraordinarily collaborative relationship she and Fosse
maintained.

His infidelities eventually did lead her to slip away from what had become a sham marriage--but she did not divorce
him, and they remained very, very close. You cannot willingly walk away from the partner who understands you
as deeply as Fosse did Verdon (and Verdon did Fosse), and that is what matters, not this ridiculous attempt to
reinvent the saga of these two artists by trying to unfasten one of them from her own history.

I stopped reading at "Verdon, a second-tier hoofer and actress whom nobody would be thinking about, much less making a series about, if she hadn’t been married to Fosse.". Anyone who makes such a claim clearly has no idea what they're talking about and isn't worth wasting time on.

Indeed. Gwen was Broadway royalty. There is no yin without a yang.

I agree with Ned.....Gwen Verdon was a spectacular dancer and Michelle Williams' performance was extraordinary.....From the picture of the idiot who wrote this article he probably wasn't even born before Gwen died and obviously he is more into film than theater......aren't there any editors left who would have nixed this article?

Any cretin who does such a hatchet job to pillory one of the greatest legends in musical theater deserves to be ------------- fill in your own punishment. I don't want to risk being blacklisted for suggesting punishment for someone who really deserves it. Opinion is one thing, but denying the legacy of someone who spent her whole life entertaining us is something else entirely.

National Review is a right-wing rag

So the reviewer's take on Fosse/Verdon is a totally reactionary take down of the #MeToo movement. What is most offensive is the reviewer's dismissal of the great Gwen Verdon's legacy. But as most woke people are aware, the right wing has nothing but contempt for women, LGBTQ+ people, people of color and poor people. If you ain't a rich white man you are nothing. From William F. Buckley who founded it, to Donald Trump, accused just yesterday of more sexual assaults, some things never change.

If you have cable and your subscription includes FX, you can stream all eight episodes for free On Demand at FX. I just watched the whole thing over the past two evenings.

Honestly, I don't know what you want to stream.

But Fosse/Verdon is on Amazon, YouTube, and Google Play, I believe.

The article is linked in the first post of this thread.

Yep, I want to stream Fosse/Verdon Best Plays is pre-streaming, unfortunately.

I did find the series in Amazon Prime--for $14.99! Not in my budget. :-(

Maybe Best Plays will put out an updated streaming edition...

Calling Burns Mantle! :-)
