| Honestly, based on the marketing, I was not alerted to a lot of exciting performances. Lenk's is the only name I have seen. (She's wonderful, of course.) My sense (and it sounds like I'm wrong but to the point of why it is not selling better) is that it would be a chit chat punctuated with some songs sung by her, maybe with JRB at a piano. (Hence the 92Y mention.) In fact, the photo they are using of JRB and SS looking like they are bored and about to nod off does not exactly convey what you are describing. As to the benefit aspect, there are lots of them, and I don't think people generally buy tickets to snoozefest-marketed shows for that reason unless they are closely associated (something not especially likely in this case). Otherwise if I want to support the Brady cause, I'd send them a check. (which I have at times, but that's another matter.) |
