| I thought the Angie Schworer role would be ideal for Jane Krakowski - Broadway gypsy of a certain age. I also thought that the Brooks Ashmanskas role of Barry Glickman had Nathan Lane written all over it. I thought he would be the first choice if it was filmed. As for Dee Dee Allen - doesn't the part require a stronger voice than what Meryl can provide even with autotune and reverb? Of course, Liza Minnelli is far beyond the point where she could do the role. (Is Liza retired from performing?) I don't know who could do the part nowadays other than Beth Leavel. Does the press release mention who would play Emma? I think Ariana Grande would be Alyssa. Marlo Manners (Lady Barrington) |

| Agree with your remarks. I might also point out that Kidman was supposed to e in the Producers Film as Ulla and that did not happen. Not sure about singing or dubbing | |

| I thought Jane Krakowski would have been ideal for Angie, too. The only suggestion I had heard from Dee Dee that I semi-liked was Megan Mullally. But honestly, I adore Beth Leavel as Dee Dee and I don't know if I would be truly happy with anyone else in that role. | |

| Yes, I was hoping against hope for Beth Leavel, too. And of course Brooks Ashmanskas. But I'm a realist about the exigencies of drawing big numbers, and I'm sure most of America would have wondered "who?" at Leavel and Ashmanskas. Still, a pity. | |

| With big name movie stars. Lane and krakowski would be perfect for the parts but have little known in movie world. Oddly Jane probably has more recognition with tv shows and matchgame than Nathan. | |

| Prestige? Has anyone seen or read this show? It's a Y.A. TV Movie Musical on stage... | |

| There is literally nothing prestigious or even especially high quality about this show except the subject matter at the heart of it and even then, not entirely because it deals with it in the most basic of ways really. I enjoyed it for the most part, and I really liked a good amount of the score, but I wouldn't say it's a "good" musical writing-wise, nowhere near great, and prestige is not something it seems to lend itself to. In fact I think the material will not look good under the heavy weight of such an A-list cast that would, in theory, lead audiences to think it is a level that this show is not. |

| I would've thought Nathan Lane would be a big-enough name. He's a Golden Globe nominee for ''The Birdcage'' and a 6-time Emmy nominee. | |

| But a lot of people are going to watch this on Netflix at home so TV stars aren’t a problem. | |

| As MockingbirdGirl said, Bird Box was in movie theatres for a week before hitting Netfix/TV and from a quick look, it seems Outlaw King only did festivals before Netflix/TV. | |

|
| ... Bird Box was in limited release in cinemas for a week prior to the Netflix premiere to gin up interest and qualify it for awards consideration. It was never positioned as a serious box office contender. | |

| It's weird, because shows like Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon Prime) and plenty of other shows/movies have become huge hits with no big stars at all. | |

| A series gets a following. My guess is that Netflix wants to release in movie houses like bird box for possible award recognition. | |

| Thank you Ann for that. Everyone turned to see what I laughed out load at. I must say though I disagree that Nathan Lane is not a name. Thanks to his roles in Birdcage and The Producers, one a niche film and the other a huge Broadway mega hit due to him, he most certainly is a recognizable name, likely on a par with Corden. | |

| Wasn't Kidman supposed to do "The Producers" film before Uma came on board? | |
