I can understand yo point about the casting for the Prom. But to suggest that some gay actors can't pass as straight seems besides the point. There are so many gay actors who can and have. Whether you consider Rock Hudson, Tyrone Power, etc. in the movies. Nathan Lane was wonderful in the Iceman Cometh. Matt Bomer on White Collar. There are just so many more to mention... too many to mention here. Perhaps for those who can't pass as straight, it's more a question of the range of their acting talent than their sexual orientation.
