Has this ever been verified by anyone connected with the film? I've been reading about the Murphy sweetening almost since the film came out, even as the director talked endlessly about those who gathered to hear Streep record her vocals. How nothing less that awe was voiced about her focal performance, not merely her interpretation. The "sources" are always shadowy.
