The overture on the OBC album was not used in the theatre. Act I and Act II both began with film sequences accompanied by (mostly) vamp music from All American Boy.

I was under the impression that the piece that was used as the overture on the cast recording preceded the accompanied film clips at the top of act two. Well, now I need to ask a few people I know who saw it if they remember it as you do. That's very interesting. Thanks for mentioning that.

...which are now called Overture A and Entr'acte A in the licensed materials. Assuming the basic arrangements are the same as on Broadway, the Overture is indeed mostly based on "Healthy Normal American Boy" and "We Love You Conrad," though the Entr'acte plays more like a traditional compilation, with sections of "Put On A Happy Face", "One Boy", "An English Teacher" and "Kids." (The score also indicates various descriptions of what's supposed to be happening onscreen.)
