I saw it Tues. night in Bloomingdale, IL. Reminded me a lot of the '05 British film. The characterizations of Matt Henry and Killian Donnelly are much more like Chiwetel Ejiofor and Joel Edgerton rather than like Billy Porter and Stark Sands.
Some years ago Harvey Fierstein was quoted as saying that Lola/Simon is not gay. I kind of got the impression that Henry's Lola/Simon may well be straight -- he seemed to be genuinely attracted to the women he danced with in the shoe factory. However, I believe Porter has stated that he considers Lola/Simon to be gay. |
