I share your skepticism that this show will succeed, but not for the reasons that began this sub-thread (that people who go to Marvel films are stupid and only want to see things blow up). I'm not sure the play has aged well for an American audience, and while Hiddleston would make me more curious to see it than the last cast, I'm not sure he's enough to make me pay even TDF prices, particularly with how drab that set looks.
But I do think Hiddleston is well-known for projects other than "Thor"; I always think of "Midnight in Paris" and "The Night Manager" before "Ragnarok"... now, if Elizabeth Debicki was also in this, that might get me in the theater. I'd like to see them paired together in real life. |
