1. "the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies": and simultaneously the least prestigious.
2. The list is self-selecting: of necessity, one has to nominate oneself so, more accurately, it is a list of the 5000 companies that chose to apply, submit the required information (and signing a release to make it public), etc.
3. At the top of the list are companies with 3 year growth rates well into 5 figures; Davenport's growth rate is 81% for 3 years: that is 27% per year: not bad, but not really the stuff of headlines.
4. Perhaps most astonishing, the reported annual revenue for last year was only $3.3mil: that's pocket change. (The company ranked 5000 was higher, and as we all know, there are individual Broadway shows that have done that much in a week!)
I'm all for tooting one's own horn, but making sure you have enough breath to make a sound seems like a good prerequisite. |
