Goddard Lieberson, at Columbia, was, of course, the model for a show album producer. From either his earliest recordings or soon thereafter he succeeded in conveying the musical's story, often employing at least the minimum dialogue that helped place each particular song that needed this.
I'll certainly buy the TOOTSIE OBCR as I think Yazbek, as always, has written a masterful score, one that I'm very surprised that so many people seem to have failed to appreciate, just as many have slighted the entire show. But I'm sorry to learn the synopsis isn't included, even if I don't need it the same way listeners who haven't seen TOOTSIE would. |
