I hate to sound like a pompous jerk and I'm glad it all worked for you... but I must assert that I just think you're wrong. I think to some extent the people who loved it don't know how Company is conceived and written to play, or why it worked as it was conceived/written. And the people who think it works way better now... maybe they just don't know what they're missing and what it could/should be scene by scene and song by song, but I honestly just don't get how you could have experienced and understood the original version and come out saying this. There's SO much about this production that is ill-conceived and not only disregards but flies in the face of what things were written to be. I'm being hyperbolic to stress my dissatisfaction was as deeply felt as your satisfaction and I genuinely do not understand how you saw the show I saw.
As a musical I think it is a considerably weaker piece the way it's presented by Marianne Elliott in this production than it ever was before, which is why I hope Broadway doesn't get it.
