|I'm not sure than Redgrave is that big of a box office draw these days, especially not in a not-huge supporting role that only exists in Part 2 of the two part play(s).
I think if it's going to be a hit it's going to be because of what it is and that it is spoken about like a must-see event. Which is how it was in London. It certainly has the elements you'd want to be a big hit, at least a big snob hit. I don't think it's as perfect a play as its reputation would lead you to believe but it's a fantastic experience, Part 1 especially (which will surely sell tickets for Part 2 to anyone who hasn't already bought for both).
As for Betrayal, I do not think there is a big appetite for this play right now in the ticket buying audience, and I don't think Tom Hiddleston is a huge draw for the people who would be buying tickets for something like this. I think it's a bizarrely foolhardy thing to move it to Broadway especially after a fairly recent revival with MUCH bigger stars who are actual box office draws. I don't remember if it was a strictly limited engagement but it only ran for 3 months. I think this revival will have to get sensational reviews to be a hit.
