The whole show is on that cd i believe, and it's absolutely extraordinary to listen to, I think. When I rediscovered the show via the cd a decade after I'd see it on Broadway and never listened to the album, I found an entirely new and very passionate appreciation for the show.
Even if one doesn't love the entire show... I would say that the first 1/4 of the show and the last 1/4 of the show are more ingeniously conceived and written than any other musical in a LONG long time, since Sunday in the Park with George I'd say. Some of the most creative, unique, touching and thrilling writing I've ever seen in a musical, period. |
