| The role that Off-Broadway had has almost been entirely eclipsed by New York's small and mid-sized resident theatre companies such as Signature, the Vineyard, NYTW, MCC, Second Stage, and more. The kind of plays that might have had a voice on Off-Broadway in the sixties have been taken up by these theaters and there it just isn't possible for a commercial model to supplant the place that these companies have staked out. |
