|Kate Baldwin is terrific casting for Nanette Fabray's role in "Love Life", and Brian Stokes Mitchell ought to be wonderful as well.
I think Douglas Sills also did the song "Movies Were Movies" when there was a concert version of "Mack and Mabel" back around 2003 at what was then Avery Fisher Hall, with various people singing the score of the show including what I think might have been the last public singing appearance of Jerry Orbach singing if I recall correctly, "I Won't Send Roses". I don't recall any book scenes were performed, though there was an extra song, not on the recording of the title song 'Mack and Mabel" sung by Sutton and Hunter Foster. We shall see how the show's book is dealt with in this production, as it has been considered the problem which has kept this from being done more often, given that the show's score is considered one of the greats.
Of course, it looks like Millie's book will be overhauled as well. Mrs. Meers could perhaps be running a restaurant instead of a boarding house and stealing recipes from another restaurant of a different culture through an underground tunnel, leading to calls for cultural (mis)appropriation, sort of like a multicultural "Bravo, Giovanni". Or else they could find some other kind of illegal industry that she's involved with such as kidnapping, procuring, hijacking or stealing, among other illicit activities. It will be interesting to see how they handle her business in this update.
