There have been recent blockbuster hits, like ''The Book of Mormon'' and ''Hamilton,'' that have won Best Musical. They've been so popular that they really have become part of our pop culture, and I doubt few would dispute their top Tony wins.
But it can be argued that the tastes of the Tony voters usually lean toward the smaller, artier shows. Among those Best Musicals: ''Hadestown,'' ''The Band's Visit,'' ''Dear Evan Hansen,'' ''Fun Home,'' ''A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder'' and ''Once.'' |
