| There is no ageism, not to mention that I am no spring chicken. I am also not condescending: adaptation is a survival skill. There are a great many ways in which we live in a worse world than we did before, but we cheat ourselves when we resist information technology that enriches our lives based on nostalgia. That said, I would not have reacted to your statement of what gives you personal joy. What I posted about was the notion that the explosion of information available at our fingertips provides less rather than more information to us. I think we can help each other adapt: nursing homes have made computers (and training to use them) available to residents, and it is demonstrable that it has improved the lives of many. |
