It's interesting that this comes from the UK, very possibly soon to be just "Britain".
I can't imagine being Jewish and a member of the Labour Party has been a fun ride for UK Jews, even for those with solid Palestine solidarity positions like the wonderful Miriam Margolyes.
This is all about arguing for a bit of control in an increasingly out of control, increasingly racist world. I hate to be cynical but the identity-in-the-arts debate feels to me like OCD rituals in the face of growing horror. |
