"While more than a touch retrograde, Lara Spencer's laughter had as much to do with the cumulative list of all the subjects that the tiny King-in-waiting has on his dance card rather than a specific mockery of ballet."

No it did not. You have no idea what you're talking about. Her laughter, and the laughter of the audience and the giggling infant George Stephanopoulos, was SPECIFICALLY in response to the mention of the young prince taking ballet lessons. And then this woman felt it necessary to follow up with that idiotic remark, "I have news for you, Prince William, we'll see how long that lasts." What incredible gall she has to imply that she has any freaking idea "how long that lasts."

And, as I said in a post above, I don't believe a word of her apology, because if she honestly didn't think there was anything wrong or funny or "gay" about a young boy taking ballet lessons, she wouldn't have made that face or laughed or followed up with that idiotic remark in the first place.

"You have no idea what you're talking about."

Yeah, I do. I watched the video and came to the conclusion stated above. And you have your opinion and you've expressed it luxuriantly.

Obviously ABC is not too concerned since they've left the clip up on YouTube.

In my opinion, the conclusion you came to is simply not supported by the clip. If "computer programming" had been the last thing on Lara Spencer's list, do you think she would have made a face, and the audience and George S. would have laughed, and she would have followed with the statement: "Computer programming. I have news for you, we'll see how long that lasts."

I would honestly be interested in your answer to this question.

What does "gay" have to do about it? She didn't say a thing about him being gay. People are projecting that on to this. Also- aren't professional male ballet dancers largely straight anyway?

Sorry: did you honestly think she wasn't implying that Prince George would rebel at being forced to participate in something so gay???

I thought was the whole POINT of your pearl clutching!

She didn't have to say it. Historically, a young boy being interested in ballet would be teased: "what's so gay." It has long been a direct association, so that is part of the reason people are reacting strongly to what she said. Why should any young child be teased or discourage for ANY creative interest?

Exactly. This level of disingenuousness (is that a word?) in this thread is amazing, and more than a little frightening.
