Both plays that LCT are currently offering their members are showing up on TDF.
Does it pay to be a member any more?

I believe both are commercial productions

That lct is putting money into. So I wouldn’t expect other lct productions that are fully funded by lct to be on tdf.

Okay. So I'm a temporary victim. That's something.

LCT productions appear on TDF all the time. Funding amount has nothing to do with selling tickets.

That's an individual decision, I guess.

I gave up my membership about a decade ago. Given that I rarely had trouble getting tickets to any LCT show, usually at a reduced price, the perks (exchanges, presales, etc.) were not enough for me. But that's just me. I can see how membership can still be attractive to some.

The Great Society and The Sound Inside are both playing at large-ish Broadway houses. Even if every single LCT member bought tickets, there would still be seats available for every performance. And neither show is particularly starry. So it makes sense for them to use TDF as a way to increase the house sizes in early previews.

It looks like high time to pull the plug as well. Twenty years was more than enough. The thrill is gone. The buyer's remorse is real!

I pulled the plug three years ago. The thrill was gone.

I don't mind subscribing to the Public and LCT -- sometimes you get Hamilton or My Fair Lady -- you can pick your seats early if you're a member -- but mainly it's a small way of supporting these two wonderful theater venues.

Bah. They'll live! I can live without the queues and stress. And save over half the time between TDF and their prolific papering.

I understand and support that sentiment, though I usually prefer to funnel my donor dollars to smaller companies that don't receive the same level of institutional funding at LCT and the Public.
