| HI...saw the matinee today in Boston at the ART....during one of the numbers there was a man who was sitting dead center first row who got up and started to dance. Is this part of the show? The show reminded me of Jagged Little Pill last year where there was a lot of people (that I'm assuming were quite familiar with the show) who were highly enthusiastic, ie...a lot of applause and yelling. Not sure if it's the pop nature of the show and a younger audience. I think Six will be quite a hit in NYC; the reviews in Boston were positive. Sometimes it was hard to hear the lyrics, especially at the end when people were encouraged to clap along. Maybe I'm just showing my age!! |

| Having seen it 7 times here in Chicago and soon seeing it at ART I can tell you about that dance. At one point during the song "Get Down" our queen points at random to an audience member and makes them get up and dance. Having been chosen twice for it..let me tell you... it's an amazing moment if you just go with it. The crowds have always been so full of love and support when that goes on. Just get up in live in the fantasy of the moment.. | |

| There is certainly no such 'plant' in either the current London production, and there wasn't one in the first UK tour (I saw the show in Salford last December, and in London in June.) | |

| I was there too. Loved it. I'm already familiar with the score through the recording, so I may have had less trouble understanding the lyrics - but it was also great to see/hear the rest of the piece as well. I really enjoy the cleverness of the songs (and banter), and was really thrilled with the tightness of the performances. I wondered as well about the guy who got up to dance - I assume he's not a "plant," but I wonder if that's something they try to do if they see a willing participant. There were certainly several moments in the show where the actresses would do direct addresses to people in the front seats. I do suspect that the show already has a lot of younger followers who already know it quite well - but - maybe perhaps because I also knew it to a degree, the audience participation (which the show does seem to invite) didn't bother me. Since the show is billed as being "in concert," and there is a lot of direct talk to the audience (calling us "Cambridge" in this production), it would seem that the looser atmosphere is part of the show's design. Anyway, I would encourage people who can see this to do so. It's very fun. And you really don't need to know much of the Tudor history to get the jokes and the stories, but of course if you already do know the stories of the 6 wives, it only adds to one's enjoyment. |
