| Do you get that nothing there actually says he's filming it over the course of 20 years? And technically the show takes place in reverse chronological order so that would imply he's filming from old to young, to film over 20 years he'd be filming in chronological order. This article is so badly written that you can't actually determine what he's planning to do. | |

"Sources say the film is being shot in reverse chronological order, as the play and musical end when the characters are in their mid-20s and just embarking on their entertainment careers." It's true that this sentence is confusingly written. Still, it's completely clear that, of course, Linklater will start filming with the scene set on the rooftop in 1957, then move forward to the scenes set later in the '50s, then the scenes in the sixties, and so on and so on. Which is actually chronological order in terms of the passage of time in real life, but reverse order in terms of the way the story is told. To me, the most confusing part of the article is that it says Ben Platt will be playing "the lead," which I guess would have to be considered Franklin Shepard, whereas I strongly suspect he will actually be playing Charley Kringas. |
