| I'm interested in seeing a NY Phil concert in a few weeks (in which Kelli O'Hara is performing) and there appear to be a good number of the higher priced tickets still available. Does the NY Phil use dynamic pricing, in which ticket prices go up or down depending upon demand? For instance, as a concert date gets closer and tickets remain unsold the prices go down. I wasn't sure if the Phil uses dynamic pricing. If they don't, and prices stay static no matter how well a performance is selling, I'll probably bite the bullet sooner than later and get the tickets. I've never been to Geffen Hall. Any seats/sections to avoid because of sightlines or a poor audio experience? |

| The big problem with the sightlines is that the boxes on the sides have seats that don't move and that face the opposite side rather than the stage. If you're going to want to watch the stage throughout, your neck may get tired and uncomfortable as it will be turned to one side the whole time. When I was at an orchestra concert there a few months ago, I just decided to mostly just listen and I kept my eyes closed a lot of the time, only occasionally watching the conductor, the piano soloist in the first half and the orchestra. But I imagine you'll want to watch Kelli O'Hara. | |

| Knoxville isn't all that long a piece, so it probably wouldn't be too uncomfortable. And I hadn't noticed before that the Philip Glass premiere finally has a title: King Lear Overture, inspired by his work on last season's Broadway production. |

| Ah, I should have checked to see what she is going to sing. I did hear about this when it was announced, but I'd forgotten, and I thought perhaps this was a special event and she was going to be singing a set of individual songs that might have gone longer than the Barber does. | |

| They do subscriber/patron discount emails as dates approach. I think they're sometimes on Playbill Club and such. And there's the Lincoln Center TKTS-style window in the Atrium. I'm not sure if the non-member full price fluctuates. I kinda don't think so, but I'm a subscriber, so I get everything I want in advance and rarely buy more during the season. The sound there is a bit notorious, thus the eternally on-again/off-again plan to gut it and try again (not for the first time). My normal seats are high on the side, close to the stage, and when we first got them I was surprised how good the sound is there. The main floor can vary, though I don't know offhand of specific spots to avoid. I do remember once years ago being quite close to the stage on the house left side for a violin concerto and thinking "she's right there [the soloist], why can't I hear her?" |
