I am of the camp that Imelda in GYPSY, in the theatre, was sublime....one of the finest performances I have ever seen. On video....whole different story.
With COMPANY, sadly the show sounds just as lifeless and tinny on record as it did at The Gielgud.
I hope the transfer with Lenk and a new cast (save for Lupone) will breath life into this otherwise dull revival. It should have worked and I was so looking forward to it...but what a disappointment it was here in London. |
