Because like you, if this had been my first exposure to it, I might have enjoyed it (not coming in understand what the show actually can be and how often the changes they made sabotaged many of what's brilliant about it and renders many songs and scenes to make little sense) but I doubt I'd have rush to get the CD.
This is my fear often with Sondheim revivals, especially British ones.
