The only way I could see that a dramatization of the show would require 10 parts would be if most of the miniseries is backstory about how the dancers' lives led them to that audition. And then it wouldn't really be a miniseries about A Chorus Line itself, if you know what I mean.

This is simply not true, at least not categorically. I was involved with the ACL tour that was launched on the heels of the Broadway revival and it was performed without an intermission 98% of the time. Memory is a little fuzzy now but I think an intermission might have been granted in a few of the Canadian markets. Others who saw the original tour, or other tours over the years can comment on those. But the Bennett estate has some clout and I think this show was overwhelmingly performed without an intermission on the road.

My guess is that it will be both the back stories and the on-going stories of the cast members. Bottom line -- if Ryan Murphy's doing it, it's in very good hands.

People are upset on FB, but "Chorus Line" ain't "Gypsy." Have you read the script lately? It's very much of its era, and its forced show biz and rotten childhood jokes can feel flat and dated. As does its arch earnestness in places, which has a strong whiff of the seventies. Why not turn it into a series? And give it a reboot? The last B'way revival was notable mostly for pulling off some overdue diversity (Sheila); but -- IMO -- museum quality staging recreating the original step-by-step only makes the show feel older, now. I say, go for it. Remint it and use that still wonderful score.

Gotta disagree. I'd say if Ryan Murphy's doing it, the first episode is in good hands and the rest of it will gradually get worse and worse.
