Off the top of my head, I recall a tune called “Meeskite” (meaning “Ugly,” I think?) being written as a replacement for “If You Could See Her,” and similarly meant to be sung with the performer in the gorilla suit. That certainly seems a “collision course” the likes of which you speak.
