Glad to see David Kenney's wonderful radio show is highlighting Tom Andersen's terrific ''Now and Then.''

In his 4th CD, the award-winning tenor showcases 16 showtunes, pop and jazz standards, and gives them each his own exquisite and expressive spin. In his hands, ''Oh, What a Beautiful Morning'' from ''Oklahoma!'' becomes a jubilant jazz waltz. ''Time After Time'' gets a gently swingy treatment, and ''Wonderful! Wonderful!'' dances to a catchy, calypso beat. In his rave review at Cabaret Scenes, John Hoglund says ''Now and Then'' has ''sweet surprises'' and singled out Tom's dreamy rendition of ''The Journey Home'' from ''Bombay Dreams'' (by A.R. Rahman and Don Black). It's lilting and sung with such heartfelt longing.

In his heyday, Tom won a slew of awards, plus praise from Betty Buckley, Stephen Schwartz and Stephen Sondheim. In recent years, he has taken a break from New York cabaret. But to quote the closing line of Hoglund's review: ''With luck, this CD might signal a reentry to the clubs by one of the finest male singers of the last few decades who still has so much to offer.''

I guess I should've said ''album.'' It's at Amazon.com and CDBaby, but there's no physical CD.

(I was following David Kenney's lead when he named ''Now and Then'' as this week's new CD pick.)
