| This is not going to be helpful at all but I can't remember visiting any memorable restaurants in the area or in nearby Kitchener. I mostly bought fresh, delicious and reasonably priced salads, fruits, nuts, cheese and wine at the local groceries. One of the great things about Canada, imo, is the high quality found at basic supermarkets. As to currency, I'd just use a local ATM for probably the best exchange rate. What a great 60th birthday gift to yourself, I'm very jealous. |

| As singleticket says, just use a bank machine, as Canadians call them. There are a lot of good restaurants in Stratford. For very good pizza and pasta, Pazzo is ideally located equidistant (-ish) from all three theatres (one of which, admittedly, is out of commission this season). For breakfast there is a new spot called Old Man and Son located right next to the LCBO (liquor store) that does terrific morning grub until about 3:00 p.m.. For the atmosphere alone, try Revival, in the old church that was once The Old Church Restaurant (the hub of Stratford's movers and shakers during the Robin Phillips era when Maggie Smith could be seen sharing a table with Hume & Jessie). For solid pub grub, Bentley's is the reliable choice on the Main Street (Ontario Street). New ones pop up all the time. They may not be Michelin-level but there's a lot of great places. |
