This is not going to be helpful at all but I can't remember visiting any memorable restaurants in the area or in nearby Kitchener. I mostly bought fresh, delicious and reasonably priced salads, fruits, nuts, cheese and wine at the local groceries. One of the great things about Canada, imo, is the high quality found at basic supermarkets. As to currency, I'd just use a local ATM for probably the best exchange rate.
