Well... don't know if I'd count it as one of the 5 best opening numbers of ALL TiME (off the top of my head, I'd put "Tradition", "Wilkommen", "Company", "I Hope I Get It", "Ragtime", and "All That Jazz" ahead ot it, as well as the opening sequences of "into the Woods", "Grand Hotel" and "Titanic"... and could probably come up with 10 or 20 others).
BUT, it is definitely on the list of 5 best opening numbers from major flop musicals (joining, again off the top of my head, "My Favorite Year", "The Wedding Singer", Colored Lights from "The Rink", and "Movies Were Movies" from "Mack and Mabel".) |
