I saw what I think was another mounting of the Houston Grand Opera production at Radio City Music Hall around 1983. It was a splendid production, and I believe pretty complete. I don't recall who I saw among the principals, although I'm thinking maybe Emily Yancy was Bess and Larry Marshall was Sportin' Life. I think my opera-loving friend said I'd probably have been even more impressed with some of the singers if I had seen it in a smaller house, as the Music Hall is huge.

I also saw it at the Met and remember being impressed by Simon Estes and Grace Bumbry's singing, among the others. The Strawberry Woman always seems to stop the show, such a great opportunity to shine.
