"Broadway Music Director and conductor, Robb Fisher brought a world premier concert version of ‘Chicago the musical’ to Dallas this weekend in conjunction with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra....Hearing the score via Dallas Symphony with Broadway voices was fantastic. Here’s hoping that this version grows legs and continues."
I just read about this, and my first reaction is that CHICAGO is NOT a score that would adapt well to symphony orchestra. I think having that many musicians, especially all those strings, would obliterate the very lean and jazzy sound that the score is supposed to have. But I guess you liked the new orchestrations? Any specific comments on those?
